Aird guides at the Giant’s Causeway

Aird guides at the Giant’s Causeway

These photographs were kindly contributed to the project by Brian Bolt.

As more and more visitors began to travel to the Giant’s Causeway in the 18th century, a local tourism industry began to develop. Local people would take tourists to the famous Causeway stones and coastline. They regaled them with tales and facts about the area.

These photographs show local guides from the Causeway in the early 20th century.
