Denis McAuley is listed as one of three bakers on Castle Street (then called Main Street) in Pigot’s 1824 Directory.

1859 Denis Black

The room over the archway (now incorporated int no.46) was part of this building by 1859. Denis Black may be the man of the same name listed as a tailor in Slater’s Directories of 1846 and 1856. He was seemingly responsible for building the properties on Castle Place through the archway and to the rear of this building.
