Easter is a time of community celebration for Toome, but for several years our fair has been impacted by the global pandemic.
The unearthing of this programme for the 1971 Easter Festival marked the 50th anniversary of a vibrant series of events spanning the whole of April. Costing five New Pence, the programme conveys the musical heritage of Irish show bands, with performances across the festival from Philomena Begley and the Country Flavour, Brian Coll and the Buckaroos, and Leo McCaffrey and the Glensmen.
From All-Star Wresting to Jaunting Cars, there was something for everyone. We hope cherished historical documents like these can stimulate community stories and memories in our Lower Bann Voices project at TIDAL Toome.
