Page 1: Typed letter from Kenneth W Porter who had met Sam in the Library of the Presbyterian Historical Society in Belfast while researching his 'Scotch-Irish' ancestors. This gentleman's ancestor had been hanged as a United Irishman. Letter discusses American folk songs, especially 'Green Grow the Lilacs', one version of which is linked to Ireland. Dated 25.8.1951.
