Mc Dade’s House at Carnsampson

Mc Dade’s House at Carnsampson

The Causeway Coast and wider landscape is home to numerous ruins of small cottages and homesteads. Many notice the remains of these small homes from days gone by as they travel the countryside, these remains are where families lived and worked Often the stories and connections of these homesteads are lost, however this example is the remains of the Mc Dade homestead at Carnsampson.

Family history researcher, Sean T. Traynor submitted the following information: ‘This is my grandmother’s family homestead, the Mc Dade’s of Carnsampson, with the wall still standing. My dad and all his siblings were born here, as was my grandmother in 1909.’ Sean’s great great grandfather is the first listed in records as renting the land in 1861.

This record was collected as part of Causeway Coast and Glens Heritage Trust’s Uncharted Histories of the Causeway Coast Project. Please click here to learn more about this project.
