The Embankment of the Coast Road at Altrahack, Ballintoy Demense

The Irish word ‘alt’ refers to a glen or ravine, with a river running through it. When the coast road was built it had to be supported by this embankment, to cross the ravine.
According to Hunter Kane, a man called Culvin Getty was murdered here, by hanging him over the top of the wall by his hair, before cutting his Achilles tendons, and dropping him to the ground below. It has been proposed that he managed to crawl from here to the cliffs edge before falling into the sea.
