Background
Sensing the Past: Irish History Starts Here is a new programme developed as part of the Northern Ireland Museums Council’s Community Engagement Initiative. The programme has been made possible thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund and is supported by Coleraine Borough Council, Coleraine Museum and the Causeway Museum Service.
The programme and exhibition were initially inspired by A Sense of the Past, a travelling exhibition produced by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) which explores the social history of blindness in Northern Ireland over the past 200 years.
The RNIB travelling exhibition will be hosted by the Coleraine Town Hall in May and June 2015. An exhibition co-curated by Coleraine Museum and members of the local visually impaired community will be shown at the same time.
