This public talk was delivered by Jonathan Gray as part of our ongoing Ballycastle Museum redevelopment project supported by The National Heritage Lottery Fund.
What started four years ago as an innocent investigation into Adrian Boyd’s family tree took Adrian and Jonathan on a remarkable journey that has spanned 700 years of local and international history, unearthing documentary sources from La Rochelle in France to the island of St Kitts in the Caribbean, from South Carolina in the USA to Ballycastle, Co. Antrim and from Waterford in Ireland to West Kilbride in Scotland.
Now with an archive of over 6000 images and documents it is time to pass this research on to future generations revealing the remarkable story of an Ayrshire family who have left their mark on history, and who’s descendants still live today.
Our thanks to Jonathan and Adrian for sharing their sterling research, and to everybody who came and supported them on the evening!
