Museums across the Borough have taken part in the Playful Museums Festival since Northern Ireland Museum Council launched it in 2016. We have offered free workshops to under 5s exploring the museums and the collections. These have involved storytelling, a sensory tent, music and dancing and arts and crafts among other activities.

This year nurseries and playgroups have been invited to workshops in Ballymoney Museum inspired by ‘A Safari Tale’ exhibition, and ‘On the Farm’ workshops in Coleraine Museum at Coleraine Town Hall. Our ‘World Wildlife Day Take Over’ will be a free event at Ballymoney Museum with art and craft activities aimed at under 5s. More details to follow soon!

Ballymoney Museum has a free play area with dress up, toys, colouring in, exhibition trail and a ‘create a creature’ competition running throughout the month of February.
