Transcript of The Old Spinning Mill by Isabel Steele on the occasion of the mill closing, Feburary 1959 (page 2)
(cont'd from previous page)
Then a little boy with wooden truck
Would take the yarn away
To the very busy reelers
Who worked hard to make things pay
We still can think quite clearly
Of the place where the yarn was dried
Of Sam Boyd and Harry McKeever
Who many a bundle tied
Danny McAuley drove the mill lorry
Which took the work away
We can see again olf Mr Smyth
As he gave us each our pay
But these are memories of the past
No more we hear the horn
That called us to out place of work
At eight o'clock each morn
No more on winter evenings
Are the windows filled with light
Nor do we hear the turbin
As it hummed throughout the night
The old mill wheel is silent now
Twill turn again no more
What have we left? "sweet memories"
Of those happy days of yore.
