‘Portion of shell fired by German Submarine off Portballintrae'
Fired at the steamer of Spiller & Baker, Flour Millers, Cardiff, Sunday, 5th May 1918. Many fragments and shells came into Portballintrae where there were 18 shell holes. The Cardiff steamer put out a smoke screen which was clearly seen (and the action also for the steamer replied with fire) from Bath Terrace, Portrush. The firing went on for about 1 ½ hours.’
