This photo was donated by Billy O'Neill of Stranocum Hall.
His family ran an ice cream business from their home, 16 Rodden Foot, Ballymoney, from the 1930s to the late 1950s. His father died working in England in 1942, leaving his mother Jeannie and her children to carry on the business. She can just be seen in this photograph in the window of their home with her white apron on. She made the ice cream in a small ice house at the rear of the house. Billy and his brothers all helped sell ice cream from about the age of 12 after school and at the weekends. His mother remarried after the war and his stepfather also helped in the business.
