One of 7 pages of handwritten letter, on both sides, from Dorothy to her mother - on stationery notepaper of Hotel Edward in Durban. Military mix-up over ammunition ordered home. Travelled by train - describes scenery/farming/houses in Natal - better than Transvaal - blames "dirty Boers" being too lazy. Talks of bathing in safe waters - fear of sharks - had bought a bathing dress and cap. Passed by Ladysmith - describes it.
