This article by Marcus McCollum appeared in the Chronicle on 31st July 1993. Mary's Mill Time Memories Perhaps best known for her crochet work, Balnamore lady Mrs Mary Hunter, at 83 years of age, appears as spritely now as I'm sure she was in the days she worked at Balnamore Mill. At the moment, Mary's three granddaughters are expecting the sound of tiny feet one after the other, so the needles are out in full force as Mary prepares little capes and Christening robes in time for their arrival. Mary's work is done to absolute perfection, and she works with a speed that leaves her in a league of their own, ahead of the rest. A friend of Mary's from Ballymoney Chapel also recently asked her to crochet a credence mat for communion and this was coming on at a steady pace, althought it is not needed with as much urgency as the baby accessories. Looking back, Mary realises that times do change, but she feels the real spirit of village life is not as constant today as it was in her days
