Elaine Taylor – Whoosh is located on Bell House Lane, near where the curfew bell used to hang as far back as the seventeenth century. The curfew bell would toll to signal anyone who should not be inside the town walls to leave immediately. Those who were unwelcome would travel back across the River Bann to their own dwellings. This sculpture represents the destructiveness of that bell in creating a segregation that would last for many, many years.
